Lessons On Life From Tea

I like tea. Or at least herbal tea (I'd get wired if I drank "regular" tea.) And I especially like a brand of tea called Yogi Tea (the website is pretty fun!). So anyway, another great thing about this Yogi Tea is that at the end of the string that's hooked to the bag, there's a small piece of paper with a note on it. They're cool yogi sayings like, "Grace is the most effective tool. It will bring you love, appreciation, and prosperity" or "Do or do not. There is no try" (okay, that's a Yoda saying, but it's still cool.)

So I was drinking a cup of Meditative Time tea and the saying attached to the end of the bag was, "Your greatness is not what you have, it's what you give." How simple and profound, huh? We all learn to give to others. We've all been told that service and giving makes you happy (I'm not saying it doesn't!) But it's an interesting, fun experience to see how sometimes small things can hit you like a ton of bricks (which would REALLY hurt!)

"Anything, everything, is possible."

Thomas Edison said the above quote in 1908. He's right. All it takes is a fresh perspective. Think about it for a minute. Cell phones? Computers that you can carry around with you? Jets? Bombs that don't need your help to find the target? Inventions have come a long way in the last century. So if you have an idea for something new, something that you think could "go big", try it out. This quote applies to so much more than just the invention/innovative process. Anything is possible. You can change if you want to. You can help that grumpy person you know become a friend. Remember, Edison didn't fail thousands of times to find out how to make the light bulb. He just found thousands of ways not to make it.

To Do or Not To Do?

"You know, I've got this great idea, but I think I'll start it next week."

"I'm going to start calling people by name... tomorrow."
"I want to start a business, but there are so many people in that field already, I don't think it'll work."
"Look, I want to do it, but I'm not smart enough."
RED FLAG!!! See the above quotes? Make sure you never, and I mean never, say those words! Talk about success killers! They're example of just a few excuses people use to not pursue something greater than themselves. "Next week" and "tomorrow" never come! If you want to do something, do it today! Take action! Stop watching American Idol videos online and get moving! Remember:

"The men who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed."
-Lloyd Jones

Now stop wasting time thinking about what could be done, and DO IT! Want to change
something about yourself? DO IT! Want to start a project to help people, a business, or an
organization? DO IT DO IT DO IT!!! You'll feel much better about yourself once you getting
moving.

Well, it would be a worthless site if there wasn't at least one positive tip to begin with.

Here is today's thought:
"People are more alike, much more alike, than they are different."
-The Power of Thinking Big

This is a good quote to remember when someone offends you, you approach someone you don't like, or to just put people in their proper perspective.
Have you ever had a day where you had a whole bunch of homework due the next day, have to work that night, need to pay rent, your car breaks down, and your toy poodle Fifi died? If so, please let me know! That must be quite the story! Or maybe someone's done something that just pushes your buttons (like wear clothes you wouldn't be caught dead in or walk differently than you do.)
The point is, everyone has a hard life. Everyone has problems with school or at their job or in their family or with a significant other. And EVERYONE gets stressed out every now and again. So cut the other person a little slack. People have the right to be different. You see, we're different, but we're the same. If you show the other person friendship, eventually they'll come around.
And let's talk about the time you've given a presentation or spoken in front of a crowd or approached a "high profile" individual (anything from a judge to a manager at work or anyone else that makes you shake in your shoes a little bit). Remember, it's only a person! They're just like you in a lot of ways! Don't be scared! President Bush has to go to the bathroom just like you do. Tiger Woods passes gas. Angelina Jolie gets sweaty armpits too! (hahaha this is too fun. Excuse me for using such... realistic examples.)
So don't be intimidated the next time you see that cute guy or gal that you want to talk to. They're just like you. They don't have superpowers. And that goes for anyone else you come in contact with. Put people on the same level and overcome your nervous jitters when interacting with them.

Hopefully this will get our journey to a greater, more fulfilling life off to a good start. Thank you for joining me in this excursion. It's going to be and adventure!

Remember, think positive and win!

and let me know if you want to contribute! :)
